Dotcom Secrets Book – The book that started it all – “The Underground Playbook For Growing Your Company Online”
Marketing is not just, do this because it is working for someone else. It is understanding the Who, What, Why and How of customer engagement.
I love this image from the cover. It represents that journey that the author, Russell Brunson, took when developing this book.
One the sides are the stacks of books that contained concepts that are included in DotCom Secrets. Instead of you having to read all of those books, you get the secrets boiled down into one easy to use playbook.
Concepts alone will not do you any good. Notice within this image above how that pieces fit together and build upon each other.
By studying countless sales and marketing methods that have been proven to work in the physical world, the book shows how these same concepts carry over to the digital / DotCom world.
Headlines, Traffic, Followup, Copywriting, etc.
The Evaluation of the Sales Process by the Dotcom Secrets Book
Most stores or sales processes in the physical world follow a process whether they realize it or not.
This process is designed to ensure that the customer or prospect has the desired experience when interacting with the company.
From Restaurants, where you walk in and are either greeted by a host or hostess or you see a sign that says – please seat yourself.
Both of these deliver a customer experience.
Both of these models of business can be represented by a Funnel.
Some companies are conscious of the experience that they want the customer to enjoy, others have no clue what or why they are doing what they are doing, yet they still have a funnel in place.
The same can hold true in the digital world. And the DotCom Secrets book dives into how to be conscious and aware of the Funnel process do drive the desired experience and to maximize engagement and profits for the funnel owner.
Being purposeful about WHO you are seeking to interact with is the start of the process. This is sometimes referred to in the marketing realms as an Avatar. Russell break it down into a more understandable format and process.
Once you know WHO you are targeting, the book examines WHERE these potential clients and prospects are hanging out. Know this is half the battle.
Because once you know WHERE these clients are hanging out, you can create BAIT to bring them into your experience funnel.
And designing that experience funnel – from a simple one or two step process to an elaborate multi-step, complex engagement and follow up program with produce the desired RESULTS. Results for the Client and Results for YOUR BUSINESS.

One section and gem in the Dotcom Secrets Book that I found to be of particular value – pardon the pun – was the VALUE LADDER.
This secret will work not only for the local Dentist, as shown in the figure, but also the Real Estate Agent, Insurance Agent, Network Marketer, or local retail store.
Understanding and being purposeful about the Value Ladder can become a key differntiator for you and your business.
Even for Affiliate Marketers. Designing a Value Ladder is key to your success. Without it, you are trying to drive across the country without a map or gps. You might end up getting there, but good luck.
Instead of just trying to get a sale the second you first interact with a potential client, the value ladder shows how to take a step by step approach. Doing so will actually end up providing more value. It has also been proven to provide more profits.
And afterall, isn’t that what all businesses are looking for?
Some of us tend to be a bit to TECHIE when we are trying to explain certain concepts to those that are actually in the marketing and sales fields. We what to talk about all of the great bells and whistles contained in the software of service that we have developed.
These charts and images, even though they are stick figure / cave man drawings, actually do a great job in conveying the message in a simple, easy to understand format.
I have already found myself with a couple of clients, displaying just a single image or two from the Dotcom Secrets Book and conveying the exact message that I was trying to get across.
A picture – even one with stick figures – is worth a thousand words… and tens of thousands of dollars.
